How to use Indigo Powder for Hair:
Indigo Powder is always used along with Henna powder. There are two ways of applying Indigo according to the hair color required. The two steps are as follows:
1. Two-Step Henna- Indigo process for Black Hair
Henna and Indigo two-step process is used to attain black hair. The steps are as follows:
Step 1: Heena Treating the Hair
- Firstly, Prepare a henna paste by mixing the required amount of Elecious Henna Powder (100 grams for Short Hair, 150 grams for Shoulder-length hair, and 200 grams for Longer hair) with lukewarm water in a mixing bowl.
- You can use Tea or Coffee water instead of plain water while preparing Henna paste for a more intense Henna color.
- Leave this paste to sit or a night if possible, if not minimum for 1 hour for best result. Soaking Henna imparts good color when is well soaked with water.
- Apply the paste on your hair and leave it for 40-60 minutes.
- Wash your hair with normal water and towel dry them.
Step 2: Dying Hair black with Indigo Powder
- Mix the required quantity of Indigo powder (100 grams for Short Hair, 150 grams for Shoulder-length hair, and 200 grams for Longer hair) with normal water to make a semi-thick paste in a mixing bowl.
- Then, Add a pinch of salt to it for a more intense color (optional).
- Cover the bowl with help of a Lid/cap/plastic cover, such that the bowl becomes air-tight. Indigo paste starts oxidizing as soon as it comes in air contact and releases dye which we do not want while allowing Indigo to soak.
- After 10-15 minutes apply the Indigo paste to your hair and leave it for 60-90 minutes.
- Rinse your hair with normal tap water and towel dry them
This process is called two-step as Henna and Indigo are applied separately. This is process is more time-consuming and cumbersome than a one-step process but it’s totally worth the results you get.
2. Single Step process for BROWN Hair
- Mix an equal amount of Henna and Indigo Powder (Total of 100 grams for Short Hair, 150 grams for Shoulder-length hair, and 200 grams for Longer hair) and prepare a semi-thick paste in lukewarm water or Coffee water.
- Cover the mixing bowl to cut the air contact.
- Allow this paste to rest for 30 minutes.
- Apply the paste on your hair cover it with a shower cap or polythene and leave it for 60-90 minutes.
- Wash your hair with normal water and towel dry them.
